About this webinar: This talk is about the 7 process “Cs” in Bruce’s 7Cs change model, (Grimley 2026), which were inspired by reading Phyllis Aldens 1998 paper; “when hypnosis looks like magic, remember electricity”. She found hypnosis works like this when certain psychological variables naturally aligned within a coaching / counselling intervention. These variables were; expectancy, the use of distraction, relaxation, the use of imagery, helpful attribution, and adaptive cognitive changes. She encouraged us not to think hypnosis was invented, rather it was discovered, just like electricity and is always there. Bruce discovered similar psychological variables which he systemised into his own change work.

Aim: The aim is to talk about the 7 process psychological variables which I have found to assist in making a coaching/counselling conversation work like magic.
Learning Objectives:
- To understand why these 7 variables are psychologically relevant and to understand how one can weave them into a conversation in a very natural way.

Bruce Grimley – Bruce Grimley is a chartered occupational psychologist and chartered coaching psychologist, and registered with the HCPC. His area of specialisation throughout supervision and chartership was ‘The individual’ and one to one work. He is registered as a senior practitioner on the British Psychological Society, (BPS), Register of Psychologists specialising in Psychotherapy. In the 1990’s such a register did not exist and the BPS advised Bruce he should join a member organisation of the UKCP if he wished to practice psychotherapy and this is what he did. He joined the NLPtCA and then became involved with Neurolinguistic Programming. (NLP). He has written 2 books on the use of NLP in one-to-one work and 9 chapters as well as countless academic papers in the peer reviewed literature”. His PhD asked the question “What is NLP?” the results of which were published in the International Coaching Psychology Review.” He is currently writing his 3rd book, (Routledge 2027), exploring his own coaching/therapeutic model for change work, the 7Cs of Courage.
