This monthly webinar takes place between 6 and 7.30pm.
We have one main presenters: Dr Michael Capek and the webinar will be hosted by Dr Gill Smith who will also present a couple of cases. There will be time for general discussion.
Aim: the aim of this webinar is to explore ways of helping people with autism to use hypnosis productively to help manage health concerns
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the importance of working collaboratively and openly with people with autism so that their individual preferences can be accommodated
2. Learn ways of adapting hypnotic techniques to facilitate positive change and increase confidence when managing health issues in people with autism
About this webinar: Michael Capek will talk generally about hypnosis and autism drawing on his experience of working with patients on the autistic spectrum.
Michael Capek graduated from Leeds Medical School in 1979
and passed his MRCGP in 1983. He also completed an MSc in Health Psychology
from City University in 1997. With 32 years’ experience as a principal in
general medical practice Dr Capek specialises in conditions which have not
responded to standard medical treatments with a special interest in functional
disorders. He is also a Clinical Lead in Mental Health for the local Manchester
CCG. He trained in hypnosis in 2000 and has been using hypnotic techniques ever
since.
