This monthly webinar takes place between 6 and 7.30pm.
We have three contributors: Michael Friedrich, Dr Rory McGill and Oliver Hollis who will be describing how methods using altered states of consciousness such as hypnosis can be used to help patients achieve their goals and build motivation.
Michael Friedrich uses altered states of consciousness generated by hypnosis, meditation / mindfulness, visualisation and yoga nidra together with Jungian psychoanalysis. The self suggestions and calm mood implicit within these methods can help alleviate the fear, guilt, depression, etc. which clients sometimes feel when they are shifting in their internal or external lives – thus these methods using altered states of consciousness can help clients move forward in their work of personal development. These altered states of consciousness can also help the client with insight based work by providing a mental state in which data from the unconscious can spontaneously emerge in the form of words or images – something like the Jungian method of active imagination.
Rory McGill will describe how a holistic approach can help motivation with depressed patients.
Oli Hollis will be presenting a case study that used an ACT based approach, (using hypnosis to augment motivation), which helped a patient who was struggling to manage his DM2 because of self-sabotaging lifestyle behaviour.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Gain an understanding of a Jungian approach to these issues.
Gain an understanding of how a holistic approach to medicine and psychotherapy can help patients with depression harness motivation.
Gain a working knowledge of how to apply a specific ACT-based technique with hypnotic augmentation, to bring patients to a willingness to engage with areas of motivational deficit.
