What is Adjunctive Clinical Hypnosis for Functional Symptoms?
Adjunctive clinical hypnosis for functional symptoms is an evidence-based approach used by healthcare professionals—including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and psychologists—to enhance therapeutic communication and support symptom management. It helps patients gain control over their symptoms by engaging the mind-body connection through targeted hypnotic interventions. Unlike hypnotherapy, which is often practiced independently, clinical hypnosis is used within regulated healthcare settings to complement existing medical and psychological treatments.
Aim:
To develop and enhance healthcare professionals’ skills, knowledge, and the safe application of clinical hypnosis for managing functional disorders.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will have:
- Gained practical experience in establishing and using ideomotor signals to enhance therapeutic communication.
- Explored and applied classical hypnotic reframing techniques to support patients with functional symptoms.
- Practiced hypnotic interventions suitable for individuals with functional disorders.
- Engaged in interactive discussions and case-based learning to deepen understanding of hypnosis and imagery techniques in clinical practice.
Course Structure
The training consists of two components:
Live Online Training: Interactive lectures, practical demonstrations, and guided practice sessions.
Non-Compulsory Self-Directed Study: Access to additional resources on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for three months. Instructions on how to access BSCAH’s VLE will be emailed to applicants.
