Many of us at the moment are facing unprecedented and hitherto unknown stresses and difficulties each day, so it is more important than ever to be able to take time out. We need to re-charge our batteries, refresh our minds and bodies and re-connect with an inner centre of calm. When caring for others it is especially important to also take care of yourself: you cannot pour tea from an empty pot.

Also of interest are a couple of papers from 2013-4 that show how effective positive suggestion can be, both in reducing the amount of drugs needed and shortening the stay and ventilation time for those mechanically ventilated in Intensive Care Units. These suggestions can be scripted and delivered via an MP3 player or earbuds and in the 2014 study showed significant benefit over the group that was just played relaxing music.
