What is Adjunctive Clinical Hypnosis for Pain Management?
Adjunctive clinical hypnosis for pain management is an evidence-based approach used by healthcare professionals—such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and psychologists—to complement conventional treatments. It is particularly effective in reducing pain perception, promoting relaxation, and improving patient outcomes. Unlike hypnotherapy, which is often practiced as a standalone therapy, clinical hypnosis is integrated within a regulated healthcare setting, enhancing medical, dental, and psychological treatments.
Aim of this workshop
To develop and enhance skills, knowledge, and the safe application of adjunctive clinical hypnosis for managing acute, procedural, and chronic pain conditions.
Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the module, you will:
- Understand the role of clinical hypnosis in acute, procedural, and chronic pain management
- Have observed and practiced key hypnotic techniques, such as glove anaesthesia and imagery-based approaches
- Have explored ways to integrate clinical hypnosis into clinical practice to support patients/clients in managing pain
